Why I decided to cloth diaper
A couple weeks ago the hot topic on one of the mommy groups on Facebook was cloth diapers. One of the moms posted that she decided to try cloth diapers. She's also a stay at home mom of 3, so I figured if she could do it then maybe I can too. After all, my stash of disposable diapers is quickly depleting and although I'm pretty good at scoring them for a great price with coupons and the right sale, I wasn't sure if it's worth it at this point. I found what I felt was the most economical pack of diapers on Amazon and started from there.
That first pack of cloth diapers came with with pocket inserts so obviously I tried those first. Prefolds soon got added to the collection at the recommendation of another cloth diapering mom, who also mentioned that cotton was a great option as well. So the search continued. That's when I found these organic cotton diapers http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071Y6DWW.
These 6 layer, organic cotton diapers are so far a nice addition to our growing collection. The soft texture is breathable which is important for me and my hot-bodied baby. If I could change one thing about it, it would be the directions being available in English, the only thing that is written in English is the name of the product. It would be nice to be able to know the manufacturer's care instructions.
After pre-washing it before the first use it did shrink a little, but nothing that made a huge difference. I tried it at night first, if it passes the night time test then it's a winner in our house. I typically change my daughter between 8 -9 pm and then not again until she wakes up in the morning around 6 or 7 am. Yes I got really lucky with this kid, she really is my easiest baby. Thankfully for our sleep, it passed the test. With a good cover we had absolutely no leaks. Definitely one that we will be using quite a bit
My name is Felice. I am a stay at home mom to 3 wonderful children, two handsome boys LD- 7 and CJ- 2, and our beautiful little princess Marleigh is 4 months old. My mission is to get through each day, one day at a time without losing my mind and to connect with other moms who may be going through similar things, figuring it out as we go. ;)
